Travelers stuck in standstill traffic got out of their vehicles on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge connecting Washington and Maryland after it was shut down in both directions on June 20 due to a multi-vehicle collision that resulted in a fire. DC Fire and EMS said their “fireboats” worked to contain fuel spillage into the water below. No injuries were reported, but reports said three workers under the bridge had to be evacuated.
