This is the shocking moment a Thai wife holds up a gold shop with her four-year-old daughter waiting outside - after gambling away her foreign husband's money.

Wassana Ngamlun, 24, received 200,000 baht from her western husband to pay for expenses in Udon Thani, Thailand. But she spent it on lottery tickets and card games with locals - before realising he would be angry when he returned from his lucrative job in Israel.

Wassana picked up her daughter from school on Monday (June 5) and was caught on CCTV prodding a handgun into the owner's back and demanding valuables.

With the child sitting outside, Wassana made off with jewellery worth 100,000 baht and 30,000 baht cash. But following a police search, she was recognised by her dark tattoo eyebrows and officers arrived at her home.

The pink Hello Kitty seat covers were also still on her car, matching those seen by witnesses when she drove away. The cash and jewellery were found at her home. Wassana told police she had spent all her husband's money and needed to have some to show for when he came to see her.

She said: ''I have a gambling addiction. I play about 10,000 baht a day. My husband sent me money every month while he worked in Israel. He is coming back in July and I was worried he would ask where the money was. I bought a gun, bullets and made a plan to steal the gold.''

Police Colonel Cheowchan Meechai said: ''The Toyota Altis was parked outside the two-storey wooden house and it had pink Hello Kitty seats which matched the details seen at the robbery.''
