A fifth-grader in Plaistow, New Hampshire, appeared in front of the local school board on June 7, 2018 to ask them for help with a bullying problem in her school. Delanie Marcotte spoke to the Timberlane Regional School Board, describing the ongoing threats she receives from a fellow classmate. “I have been threatened to be shot in the head with an AK-47 and buried in my backyard,” Marcotte said. She said her parents have contacted the school about the bullying but it continues to happen to her and her classmates. “I ask you, what are you going to do to protect me and my classmates against bullying,” she continued. The room applauded the girl and a member of the board told her she was proud of her for addressing them. The board released a statement saying district administrators were investigating the problem. “The District is committed to promoting anti-bullying preventative strategies to ensure that each student is provided a safe learning environment and, to that end, has sponsored numerous anti-bullying initiatives,” the statement said.
