As the armies of Israel clash in a battle that pits father against son, a powerful orator—‘the Voice of the King’—delivers King Daud’s words to those in the throes of war. Taken from Psalm 140, her voice echoes across the battleground, urging the men to stand strong against those who scheme and stir up violence, echoing Daud’s plea to Yahuah for protection and justice. Her words serve as a beacon of resolve and divine strength, calling on Yahuah to thwart the plans of the lawless and shield the righteous. This scene unfolds as Absalom’s fate draws near, symbolizing the king's enduring trust in Yahuah to uphold truth, even in the face of betrayal and bloodshed. Join us as we explore the powerful words of Psalm 140 amidst one of the most intense moments in King Daud’s life.Psalm 140, Rescue me, O Yahuah, from men of evil; Preserve me from men of violence, Who have devised evils in their hearts; They stir up conflicts all day long. They sharpen their tongues like a snake; The poison of cobras is under their lips. Guard me, O Yahuah, from the hands of the lawless; Guard me from a man of violence, Who have schemed to trip up my steps. The proud have hidden a trap for me, and cords; They have spread a net by the wayside; They have set snares for me.
I said to Yahuah, “You are my Al; Hear the voice of my prayers, O Yahuah. “O Aduni Yahuah, my saving strength, You have screened my head in the day of battle. Do not grant the desires of the lawless, Yahuah; Do not promote his scheme.
Those who surround me lift up their head; The trouble of their lips cover them; “Let burning coals fall on them; Let them be made to fall into the fire, Into deep pits, let them not rise again. “Let not a slanderer be established in the earth;
Let evil hunt the man of violence speedily.” I have known that Yahuah maintains The cause of the afflicted, The lawfulness of the poor. Only, let the obedient give thanks to Your Name, Let the straight ones dwell in Your presence.
