00:00 Intro

01:24 Work That Pays You
First, identify the best paying jobs in different industries. It's controversial to put this first, but hear me out! Before you make up your mind, open it. The market values certain occupations more than others. Something is a hobby until it makes money, so check out https://www.glassdoor.com as well as using search engines and chatting with people already occupied in fields to discover what it's like to work, what's required and how much you can expect to earn.

Lucrative high salary occupations provide income to support you and others. You'll find yourself more motivated and relaxed when your financial life is taken care of. Knowledge is the first step, so know where you're going. If you're a people person, are you open to nursing instead of teaching? If you like reading, are you open to law school as opposed to studying History? Similar abilities and skills are required but the compensation can be much higher in nursing and law than in teaching and History.

02:36 Work On Your Strengths
Second, jot down your strengths and weaknesses. Ask friends and family for help. Meditate on this list. Take aptitude and IQ tests. IQ may be important if you consider a career like a scientist, but hard work often beats smart work especially when smart workers become lazy. Many employers including me prefer those more willing to work. Working hard for a while can help you develop skills and experience that are scarce so you can command a higher wage or profit return later. Be first into the job and last out - commitment and dedication are rewarded.

Traits like being good with people or a salesperson are a combination of skills: firm handshake, good eye contact, posture, oral communication...these can all be learned and improved! Speaking languages and writing code are skills you can learn. Consider joining your local Toastmasters to develop your public speaking skills and confidence. Just start: most skills you learn will be on the job rather than in formal education like school and college.

04:35 Discover Your Passion
Third, only last figure out what you like. We may like sipping drinks by the pool or watching TV eating junk food. That's why it's important to find jobs that pay first. And if you are not a good fit, then perhaps it's time to choose a different path, so it's also important to identify your strengths. Even for those who love their jobs, sportstars, celebrities...there are often parts they dislike. Your goal should be to find something you enjoy doing so you can work for years to develop your expertise. Finding what you don't like is equally important and often much easier. Just try. Start something. Dip yourself in.

Summary:

(1) Discover a variety of jobs along with their returns.
(2) Jot down your strengths.
(3) Jot down your likes and dislikes.

Then:

Meditate...😎

...and subscribe! 💪👍
