oh I forgot to mention WHY I'm listening to carl jung, after we've grown up and gotten super serious for a while to manage the basic/advanced important stuff, he says we need to find our inner child and learn to enjoy the small things of life again as if we were children all over again, but with the practice and experience and having gained the mentality of a super serious adult
it's a process, child ->young adult -> mature adult-> playful senior
you go through the stages and eventually return back to something of a synthesis (in the dialectical hegelian sense except for the part you don't do it all in one go), similar to the hero's journey by joseph campbell
I'm a strict believer in god as a definite reality, so carl jung stressing there doesn't need to be a god rubs me the wrong way and I get where jordan peterson comes from when he refuses to believe in god as an actual person, I've been putting off jung because I suspected something along these kinds of issues would pop up in his teaching but like I said in my previous video I'm sincerely believing a good jordan peterson fan who follows his advice and takes the themes and symbolism of the bible as seriously as peterson does is closer to a properly indoctrinated god fearing christian than someone who is a one issue wonk for a single aspect of christianity
so I'm studying alternative world views now for glimpses of the psychology of a true belief and mature relationship with god in an imperfect world knowing god is perfect
