Day 14 of 90 in 90. Feelings

Day 14.

Higher Power, awaken my spirit and guide me to live fully in the present, to be truly alive. Please Help me to embrace this life with all its joys and challenges, without fear or hesitation. Grant me the courage to feel deeply, to love fully, and to grow daily. May I walk through life awake and alive, trusting Your path for me.

Am I ready? When I am ready to become truly alive, I will do certain things. As we have discussed, Recovery isn’t just about quitting a substance or stopping harmful behaviors—it’s about waking up to life in a whole new way. For so long, addiction kept me numb, disconnected, and barely surviving. Every waking effort was in search of that elusive feeling that worked, at least once, for a period of time. But in predictable fashion, it stopped working. I was left beaten and broken, bankrupt in all measurable way. Now I have discovered, in recovery, that there’s a whole world I had been missing out on.

Becoming truly alive means feeling everything again—the joy, the pain, the fear, the love and more. It’s not always easy, but it’s real. When I choose recovery, I choose to show up for life, to experience my world with clarity and purpose. I’m no longer hiding behind substances or distractions. Instead, I’m facing life head-on, ready to take on its challenges and embrace both its pain and its beauty.

Being truly alive means building deeper connections, finding meaning in everyday moments, and discovering the person I was always meant to be. The person I set aside when I dove into the deep end of escapism. Now, It’s about stepping into, and up to, my potential, knowing that I am capable of so much more than just surviving. Am I ready to let go of the fog, the numbness, and the escape? Am I ready to become truly alive, with all the ups and downs that come with it? The answer is only inside of me, and my actions bear witness to this desire to be this person. If I Choose life, I get to see how it opens up in ways I never imagined.
