Phantom Ladies in one form or another are not distant and unapproachable symbols, but actual, dynamic and immediate presences which can be encountered.
Phantom Ladies is a unique study of exclusively female ghosts appearing across Great Britain. First compiled in 1977 by veteran ghost hunter Andrew Green, it has now been updated and expanded in a riveting new edition, with the addition of an in-depth study of ghostly manifestations ascribed to phantom ladies by Alan Murdie, chairman of the Ghost Club.

Phantom Ladies also examines the mysterious ‘Woman in White’ or ‘White Lady’ phenomenon. These strange and cross-cultural apparitions of a woman dressed in white occur not only across the British Isles, but in many other parts of the world in places where she seems to step out of folklore and legend and manifest to people in the present day. Such sightings pose a challenge to paranormal researchers and are analysed in detail, raising questions of whether witnesses are encountering a ghost, a spirit of place or perhaps some cosmic female principle encoded in nature.
