Verse of the Day: Luke 10:16

Luke 10:16
[16] “The one who listens to you listens to Me, and the one who rejects you rejects Me; and he who rejects Me rejects the One who sent Me.”

In today's verse we can see part of Jesus' instructions to his disciples as he sends them out to proclaim the kingdom of God....

Jesus empowers his disciples with his own authority!!

It is as if they are listening to and accepting Jesus himself, and underlines the serious responsibility and authority given to those who preach the gospel!

And so, rejecting the disciples' message is equivalent to rejecting Jesus and ultimately rejecting God the Father who sent Jesus!!

It emphasizes the seriousness of rejecting the truth of the gospel and the consequences that follow!

This verse also highlights the unity between Jesus and his disciples in their mission!!

We are not acting independently but as representatives of Jesus, carrying out his mission and expanding His kingdom!

There is a sense of accountability conveyed in this verse!!

Those who hear the message have a responsibility to respond to it because it ultimately connects back to their response to Jesus and to God!

Let todays verse serve as a reminder of the weight of sharing the gospel message and the importance of both acceptance and rejection of that message!!

There is an interconnectedness of faith and action, linking personal responses to the disciples' preaching directly to their response to Jesus and God!
