This is the shocking moment an infant boy flies out of his dad’s car and is flung across the road when the vehicle is hit side-on by a lorry.

The six-month-old boy, who sadly died of his injuries during the accident, was sitting on his mum’s lap instead of in a child seat, investigators said.

Dashcam footage taken by one of the three cars involved in the crash in Zhangjiagang City in East China’s Jiangsu Province shows the boy’s family driving through a crossroads in their white saloon.

Besides the 37-year-old dad and driver surnamed Xie, there were three others inside the car, including his infant son.

The footage shows the car being struck from the right side by the semi-trailer lorry, which sends the vehicle spinning around and crashing into the dashcam owners.

The infant can be seen flying out the badly damaged back door, the video shows.

Traffic cameras also captured the moment the boy was flung across the road and ended up on a street corner, with a man believed to be his dad rushing over to pick him up.

Local police said none of the other passengers involved in the crash were injured, but the boy sadly lost his life.

The accident is still under investigation, with the authorities reminding members of the public to travel with young kids in child seats.
