This is the hilarious moment a group of pupils physically drag a classmate across the finish line after he stumbles during a school race.

Video of the race involving 20 pupils on each side has since been watched more than 5 million times at the time of writing.

It was filmed by a pupil and uploaded to the hugely popular video-sharing platform Douyin - known as Tik Tok in English - during the casuals sports meet in Yinchuan No. 24 Middle School in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in north-western China.

The 20 students were asked to run together while holding onto one another by putting their arms around the other’s shoulder.

But as the pupils bolt towards the finish line, one of the boys loses his footing and falls.

Amazingly, his classmates manage to cling onto him and pull him by his shirt collar all the way across the finish line, keeping the chain intact.

Principal Ding Yonghai explained: "That was during our school’s spring ‘fun games’.

"Each group had 10 boys and 10 girls who had to cross the finish line together, otherwise their result doesn’t count.

"That is, as long as one person is left behind, they don’t place anywhere, so if anyone falls, they all have to stop, get back in line and start running again."

The class in question appeared to have won their race, despite running outside of the tracks and falling after crossing the finish line.

The class competing against them were disqualified because a number of pupils tumbled out of the row of pupils halfway through.

Ding revealed eight classes took part in the fun games, with only two teams managing to place.
