Pride Comes Before the Fall: How Pride Leads to Apostasy (Live Service 2024 June 3)

June is known as "Pride Month." It is a time when the LGBTQ+ agenda is celebrated in communities worldwide with parades, honors, and recognition in various forms. Social media, television, movies, commercials, and businesses brand themselves with the images of "Pride" and people champion the misguided notion of "Love Wins." How is the Church to respond? Should the Church embrace the social and political agenda of "Pride Month" or should it stand on the Biblical principle that such behavior is an abomination to God? What about how the Church deals with the LGBTQ+ agenda within its ranks?

The Bible tells us of a time of Apostasy before the Antichrist rises to power. This apostasy is marked by the people establishing leaders who teach what they want to hear. Today, the itchy ears of the West seek after the social and political agendas of the day, namely LGBTQ. In a month focused so heavily on celebrating pride in sin, let us remember that God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. When we hear "pride" in the world, we must not forget "humility" in ourselves. Pride leads to apostasy. It was the greatest apostate in history whose pride led to his downfall.

This is a message for the Body of Christ in how we govern our own more than how the Church interacts with the sinful world.
