This is the hilarious moment a shopper uses a shop's CCTV system to greet his family as if he was on live television.

A video shows the practical joker jumping up and down in front of the camera and waving hello to his mother and father.

John Rivera, from Pasay, Metro Manila, National Capital Region Northern Philippines, was filmed sending a message to his family.

Footage of his antics quickly went viral so it seems like John may have been successful in using CCTV to contact his loved ones in the Province of Cebu, Central Philippines.

In the video he can be heard saying: "I want to greet my mum, my dad, my family in Cebu. I love you all very much. It’s so fun mum, I’m now in Manila."

It is unclear exactly where the footage was shot, other shoppers can be seen laughing in the background while staff behind the counter look bemused.

The video was uploaded onto Facebook by Cherry Mae Bermas and has now received 816,000 views, 23,000 reactions, 18,000 shares, and more than 1,000 comments.

Facebook users found John’s behaviour hilarious and admitted to acting in a similar way.

Marilag Larosa Medina said: "I find him so funny… he’s like me. I also wave when there’s CCTV."

There is no further information available about John or his family in Cebu.
