A madcap mechanic shows off his electricity-saving invention - an exercise bike hooked up to a washing machine. Dandy Vincentino, 43, removed the engine from the washer and linked a belt to the cogs on an old bicycle. Relaxing on a plastic chair, he is seen pedaling, which turns the washing machine drum that contains water and soap. Vincentino, from Davao City, Philippines, says his contraption is perfect for people who are too busy to visit the gym. He added: ''This saves a lot of electricity. It's a great way to lose weight, too. I built it with an old exercise bike and a washing machine.''

We have never managed to kill two birds with one stone, but now at least we can do our laundry and exercise at the same time thanks to this device that we can call a bike washing machine. Judging by the name, it combines two activities into one. It is a stationary bicycle so that every time you ride it, the pedaling motion causes the drum of the washing machine to rotate without using electricity! If you get bored with pedaling forwards you can switch to pedaling backwards. Exercising has never been so close at your disposal and this pedal-powered washing machine gives you a hands-on experience. What is more you will feel even more productive knowing that one chore is done thanks to your legs.

Riding a bike is a popular exercise, washing laundry is something that you might do on daily basis or at least once a weak (unless you keep buying new clothes and underwear), so why not combine them into a single useful appliance?
