Rumble These lines traced on the map are veritable hotbeds for violence. From U.S.A. & Mexico, to Ethiopia & Eritrea, and Sudan & South Sudan, these borders are pretty scary. WatchMojo counts down Top 10 Most Dangerous International Borders.

For this list, we will be looking at borders separating countries around the world that have developed a reputation for being dangerous or risky; either the border itself or in the larger sense due to disputes.

We start the list with a border very close to us, the one between the United States of America and Mexico. It might be the most traveled border in the world, but don’t mistake the volume for its general safety. Between the border checkpoints, things get ugly and fast!

We travel to Africa for number 9 on this list, with the border between Ethiopia and Eritrea. Located in the Horn of Africa, these two countries saw the war come to an end in 2000. But the end of the war did not mean the end of hostilities and the boundary between the two nations remains contested.

These next two countries might share a name, but there is a long history of differences between Sudan and South Sudan. South Sudan was officially formed in 2011, following a 2005 peace treaty that brought an end to the Second Sudanese Civil War. Sadly, the peace was not to last.

We leave Africa towards Asia to talk about the border between Russia and Ukraine. The two countries have had a long and bloody relationship. It became particularly bad under Stalin, who began pushing Russian identity all across the Soviet Union. Many decades later, this is a border that is still defined by conflict.
