Rumble / Ocean LifeOne of the great things about going fishing is you can enjoy the great outdoors and unwind. Today’s lifestyle can be very stressful, and fishing is a nice way to get one with nature again. Many people in fact, get into fishing to enjoy the surroundings and the serenity it brings. For many, simply being with nature, the sights and sounds, is soothing.

This is the moment an Australian fisherman reeled in a whopping 12-foot-long tiger shark on a beach in Perth. In the footage, local man Jack catches the shark, which he calculates would have weighed at more than 400kg. It took him 10 minutes to reel in the shark.

"I've just seen the tip of its tail," says Jack in the video. "It's huge!"

At one point in the video, it even slaps him in the face with its fin. "We got him! Look at the fish! Oh my god! It's a beast" exclaims Jack. After measuring - "12 foot! 12 foot! That is massive!" says Jack - and tagging, the shark was successfully released back into the water.

"That was the most exciting thing ever," Jack says at the end of the video.

Although tiger sharks are not known for being dangerous, it is reported that they are responsible for a large percentage of fatal shark bite incidents and they are sometimes regarded as one of the most dangerous shark species. They have extremely low repopulation rates, and therefore may be highly susceptible to fishing pressure. They are listed as near threatened throughout their range.
