The New South Wales Rural Fire Service said 900 of its personnel were fighting 48 fires across the territory early on April 15. The service said it had assigned 500 firefighters to a fast-moving bushfire threatening homes in southeast Sydney, near Holsworthy and Menai. This footage is said to show flames encroaching on homes in Menai. The fire service urged residents to take shelter as the fire approached, and to defend their homes from the fire if they are able.
