This schoolboy was so desperate to go to Disneyland he ran away from home and stowed away on a train travelling nearly 200 miles only to be stopped by security at the gates.

The 10-year-old boy attempted to sweet talk police into taking him around the Shanghai Disney Resort so he could see Micky Mouse and his other favourite characters.

The youngster had already succeeded in sneaking on board a cross-country train, talking his way past guards in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, eastern China, by telling them his parents were already onboard.

He travelled 300 kilometres (186 miles) to the most populous city in the world, arriving in Shanghai late last Wednesday night, before taking a bus to the waterfront and sleeping in an underground passageway.

On Thursday he took a subway to Disneyland where staff refused to let him in on his own and called the police to the scene at which point the boy tried to persuade them to accompany him inside the theme park.

A video shows the boy encouraging the female officer to pose as his guardian or to help him find someone else who would.

Body cam footage shows how the unidentified youngster was reluctant to provide her with information asking why she needed to know his name.

He claimed he could only remember half of his mum’s phone number but the officer was eventually able to track down his family in Nanjing.

His mum had been frantically searching for her lost son who had been missing since Wednesday evening.

She rushed to the train station and took the next train to Shanghai where she was reunited with her son.

The boy said he had run away from home after an argument with his dad and had initially planned to go to Beijing but decided on Shanghai instead.
