A student has been found raped and murdered along with her mother with multiple stab wounds in their burnt down home.

The bodies of Graciela Cifuentes and her daughter Sol Cifuentes were reportedly found with multiple stab wounds at their home in Alvaro Obregon area of the Mexican capital, Mexico City.

Their house had been set on fire and reports suggest the victims’ car was stolen and used as a get-away vehicle after the horrific crime.

The victims’ family have produced a video giving details of the double murder and have appealed to the authorities to solve the case.

The video claims the women were "stabbed innumerable times, strangled and burnt" and says the daughter was "raped and killed".

Graciela was an academic at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where her daughter studied in the Faculty of Architecture.

The Cifuentes’ house was being repaired after it was damaged in an earthquake in September 2017.

Investigators reportedly have three suspects for the murder which they say was committed with extreme violence and without robbery as a motive.

The first suspect is one of the construction workers at the house who had been suspended after he was caught stealing a metal structure by Sol.

The second suspect is Sol’s ex-boyfriend, identified as Alan, who authorities have not located.

And the final suspect is the partner of Graciela, a photographer named Benjamin, who was seen leaving the house in the stolen car on the day of the crime.

No arrests have been reported.
