A road accident in which a car ripped the side off a lorry left eggs strewn across a motorway.

The crash was filmed by a dashcam in a following car on the North-South Expressway in the north-western Malaysian state of Kedah.

The footage shows a white car weaving up behind an open-backed lorry and clipping the side of it as it passes.

As soon as the car hits, it rips the side off the lorry and sprays its load over the carriageway. Local media reported that the lorry had been carrying eggs.

Both vehicles weave crazily and the lorry crashes into the central reservation while the car ends up in the middle lane.

Local media said the crash happened at 9am and that the car driver was Heng Tek Cheng, 26.

He was reported to have been uninjured by the crash though his car was badly damaged.

Assistant Police Commissioner Noorzainy Mohd Noor said: "No casualties were reported and the 55-year-old lorry driver also did not sustain any injury.

"Traffic congestion occurred following the accident as the vehicles blocked both the lanes on the highway."

He speculated that car driver Heng had fallen asleep but said that investigations were ongoing.
