This is the emotional moment a near-death stray dog is rescued and nursed back to health by kind-hearted rescuers.

Paul, a stray dog, was discovered with a badly wounded leg - with wire wrapped around it and deeply cutting into his skin, as well as an eye injury.

He was saved by volunteers from Dharamsala Animal Rescue, based in Dharamsala, Northern India, who urgently swept him up into their care.

Vets at their rescue centre discovered Paul had a prolapsed eye lid and that the wire wrapped around his front leg was putting him at risk of losing a limb.

Deb Jarrett, founder of the animal rescue charity and based in the USA, said: “If Paul was not rescued when he was, he would have lost a limb and maybe his life.”
