A family of Japanese tourists visiting Hong Kong have been accused of trying to get themselves killed after this dashcam video of them being run over emerged.

The mum, dad and daughter are seen crossing a three-lane one-way road in the Central area of the southern Chinese territory in a video posted on numerous local road-safety groups.

As the trio reach the last lane, the white car in front of the dashcam vehicle tries to swerve around them but instead skittles all three as it passes, with an audible thump.

Witnesses are heard screaming.

The white car stops as the dad picks himself up then, perhaps unwisely following a road accident, hauls his 11-year-old daughter up by her arm.

The mum is seen lying face-down on the road, propping herself up on her elbows.

Though they were not named in reports, the 47-year-old mum and her daughter were said to have received hospital treatment.

It was not clear whether police were taking action against the jaywalking family, or the white car’s driver, a man aged 60 named only as Mok in reports.

Hong Kong media report that many netizens commented on the clip, with most asking variations of: "Are these people trying to get killed?"
