A 16-year-old teen has been killed after an Uber driver lost control of his Hyundai car and smashed into a tree on his first day on the job.

The tragic accident was caught on CCTV cameras in the city of Rostov-on-Don in south-western Russia’s Rostov Oblast region.

The footage shows the Hyundai Uber taxi driving along a busy motorway when it suddenly swerved off the road and hit a tree head-on.

The teenage passenger, who has been named only as Daniil M., suffered serious injuries and was rushed by ambulance to hospital.

Doctors said he suffered brain injuries and multiple fractures. They were unable to save him and he died without regaining consciousness.

The 33-year-old driver of the Uber, whose name has not been released, suffered only scratches and bruises in the accident.

He later revealed that the accident had happened on his very first day as an Uber taxi driver.

A woman pedestrian who was walking by the scene at the time of the accident had a narrow escape when the car missed her by inches.

She barely broke her stride as the car shot past her but then broke into a trot when she realised what had just happened.

There is no report on whether police are investigating the incident or on whether it cost the Uber driver his job.
