This is the moment a masked robber walked into a shop and grabbed the till before running back out before cashiers had a chance to react.

The high-speed robbery was caught on CCTV security cameras of the store in the town of Adeje in the south-western part of Tenerife, one of the Spanish Canary Islands.

The footage shows the hooded and masked man stride into the shop, ignore a woman standing at the counter, grab the till and run out again.

By the time sales assistants reacted and went to the front of the store to investigate what had happened, the man had gone.

He reportedly had an accomplice waiting outside in a car with the engine running and the pair quickly sped away with their ill-gotten gains.

Police and civil guard officers rushed to the scene after shop staff raised the alarm but have so far been unable to apprehend the men.

The investigation is ongoing and officers have been studying the video footage and talking to witnesses in a bid to identify the robbers.

Adeje, which lies about four kilometres (2.5 miles) from the coast, is next to the Costa Adeje resort which is popular with tourists for Siam Park, a huge Thai-themed water park, and its beaches.
