Birth is a miracle in on itself. Watching a new life tome to the world is something to rejoice over. But out of all the miracles that happen in the world on a daily basis, rarely something compares to the birth of a baby giraffe.

Just minutes after coming out of its mom’s womb, this baby giraffe is already on a big mission - standing up. For a human baby, it would be unheard of. But since giraffes actually give birth standing up, it is only appropriate that their babies will begin walking within the hour. Most often quite literally!

The baby giraffe wobbles and gives its best shot at reaching the heights it was meant to reach. But after a few failed attempts, the calf fell weary on the ground, cross-legged. It is really a hard job, especially for a newborn. But mom didn’t let her baby fall behind, so she gave him an assuring lick on the head; it was all the encouragement it needed.

The baby did fall down a few more times, receiving a gentle nudge of the tush from mommy, before finally finding its legs, however, unstable, and slowly stands up tall. He was already 6 feet and 3 inches tall, measuring at a whooping 148 pounds.

The ZOO is giving mommy and baby plenty of private time to adjust.
