This footage shows an ambulance ramming into a group of pedestrians on a zebra crossing at speed and knocking them flying before the medics helped the injured people their vehicle had just hit.

The bizarre accident in the Russian capital Moscow was caught on CCTV cameras which show the victims on a pedestrian crossing when they were hit.

At least two people needed emergency medical attention at the scene - provided by the medics in the ambulance that hit them.

The CCTV footage appears to show that the ambulance was the only vehicle which did not slow down as it approached the crossing.

The two victims were taken to local hospitals. Neither is in a serious condition.

Internet commentator ‘Aleksey Yatsenko’ said: "These days pedestrians think they are cooler than a car. They cross the street where they want to, thinking that a vehicle is not a tram, therefore would be able to bypass them. This is not a way to go."

Another one ‘zylden_76’ commented: "What now? They would make those pedestrians pay a fine?!"

Russia has one of the poorest road safety records in the world with thousands of people being killed and injured in accidents every year.
