This is the moment emergency services help a teenager out of a washing machine he was stuck in after he took on a strange social media challenge which left him stuck and screaming for help.

In the video, the fire and police service work side-by-side to get the 13-year-old boy out of the machine.

The scenes occurred in Ibague, capital of the Colombian department of Tolima.

They first put the washing machine on its side, before putting it back upright and slowly lift the teenager out.

The boy has red marks running down his back and he says: "Ow, my back."

The teenager had reportedly got into the machine as part of a social media challenge.

The ‘washing machine challenge’ sees users try and fit into washing machines and post videos of themselves doing it.

The unnamed teen got into the appliance while his parents were out of the house.

Luckily, neighbours heard his screams when he got stuck and called the emergency services, who had to break into the flat through a third-floor window.

Guiomar Troncoso, director of the Group of Prevention and Attention of Disasters in Ibague told reporters that he had called the boy’s parents to tell them not to leave youngsters alone in the house.

The teenager was unharmed in the incident.
