I remember this time well. The internet was viewed as a fad and its future was uncertain. Many news reports talked about how slow it was, how dial-up took too long to connect, how rudimentary web pages were. WiFi, smart phones, streaming video, social media, online gaming, and shopping online didn't exist. Most businesses didn't have a website and saw no benefit in owning one.
