Yes, the eclipse is a big deal for several reasons but most people have overlooked "why" God would send us signs in the heavens...

The Church has been compromised.

God knew He'd have to get a message across without the Laodicean Church getting in the way and in typical God form, He's trying to get our attention in ways and coincidences we couldn't make up if we tried.

Yes - on top of all that's mentioned here, this eclipse is occurring at the same time/season as the Egyptian plagues did when God set the Hebrew people free from Pharoah's rule.
