An elderly man was filmed riding a horse at high-speed on a busy road in China, in Changzhi City in northern China's Shanxi Province on March 7.

A woman on a bus can be heard saying that the man was "so cool!"

It is ironic how not even a century has passed since people on horses were a normal site even in cities. Before the popularity of cars increased, seeing people riding in a horse-drawn buggy, or on a horse on the street was very common. Actually, besides trains, there was no alternative to travel until cars took over in the early nineteen hundred’s: horses were the fastest way to travel from point A to point B. For centuries in the past man and horse went hand in hand. As progress in transport and advances began, the necessity to use horses for transportation began to decrease. Nevertheless, now there are still people that use horses in this fashion. Even in this day and age, when cars are such a significant part of many people’s everyday lives, horses are still used in some states, such as Pennsylvania and Ohio, where certain sects reside, such as the Amish, as regular occurrence. Besides from using them as a way of life, there are some who never give up their right to leisurely ride horses on the street and enjoy their love for the equestrian life-style.

What do you think about horses being used for transportation? Should they be allowed on the street? Share what you think in the comment section.
