A long flight across the world is torture enough. Can you imagine sharing the flight with a misbehaving toddler? A baby is one thing, they don’t understand their surroundings and the high altitude pressure and the noise from the plane’s engines might disturb a baby. But this is a three-year-old child, running and screaming through the airplane taking passengers from germany to Newark, New Jersey on an eight-hour trip!

One of the disgruntled passengers recorded the child ’s antics, as the boy climbs on top of the seats and screeches. The plane hasn’t even taken off yet. Many would have hoped that the kid will settle down for a cartoon or something. He doesn’t.

In the original video, posted on YouTube by one Shane Townley with the title “demonic child screams and runs through an 8-hour flight” with the description:

"Watch as this kid runs and screams throughout the entire flight while the mother does little to nothing to stop him. 3 years old on an 8-hour flight from Germany to Newark NJ. He never quits!"

The mother of the unruly child tries getting “the WiFi going so we can get the iPad going" and even attempts to calm the boy down, but the kid ignores his mom’s pleas to be silent and continues on his rampage, running up and down along the aisle and screaming at the top of his lungs.

As passengers disembark from the plane, they can be heard saying how “even noise cancellation headphones would not have drowned out this terror”, with some even suggesting someone call an exorcist!

Child addicted to technology screams for an 8-hour flight because his mother couldn’t get the Internet to work, the parents are not paying enough attention! What would you do if you were on that flight?

As much as we feel that the child was screaming for much-needed attention and placement of boundaries, we can't help feeling sorry for everyone on the plane. Parents need some help on how to handle the situation as love won't work alone. Every child needs boundaries to feel safe, the iPad can't provide this.

No less than twice in the video, the baby's mom is heard attempting to enhance the circumstance. She tells the flight specialist, "We should get the Wi-Fi going so we can get the iPad going," before the plane takes off, and amid the flight, reveals to her child, "Calm down, honey."

This video got more them 1M Views on YouTube, and a lot of negative comments especially toward the mom, people were saying that she failed at parenting and that she needed to calm down her child because no one deserves that kind of torture for 8 hours.

Others, in any case, were more thoughtful to the mother and more basic toward the man behind the camera, similar to one analyst, who kept in touch with, "It says the youngster has an inability. How could you disgrace him and his mom? Comment below and tell us what do you think about this video!

My two boys have been flying since they were 2&3. I never had to give them drugs or anything to be good on a plane or in public. They were just great kids. It's called patenting. In that child's case, someone really needed to suggest some Dramamine to hid ignorant mother. Because she was obviously oblivious to the fact that she was a rotten parent, and he was a spoiled brat.

Sorry about the spelling, I was pretty angry, and in a hurry.

You are precisely right, ma'am. Parenting. If you start when they are infants, there would never be a problem child like that one. Worked beautifully for me, and others, and I'll bet you're one ! :-)

My son has ADHD, it is severe. They make medication for his disease. It calms him down, and he has never acted like that in public. So don't blame the disease. Blame the parent if that child has ADHD and it's that apparent to every one else? Why isn't he on medication? That is to severe to not have him on something! I dealt with my son's ADHD for 15 years. He's off the meds now, and is a sweet young man. So don't preach to me about ADHD. I lived it.

That's what wrong with this world today, everyone seems to think there's a magic pill to solve the problem. I never had that problem with my kids and they grew up to be fine productive citizens. Leave the drugs out of it, spend time with the kids and get to know them.

BS...this child is plain spoiled rotten. I have been ADHD since I was a toddler and this has nothing to do with ADHD. He needs behavior modification counseling and the parent needs to learn how to cope with his aggressive behavior. As a child I never behaved in this manner at all. People need to stop making statements such as yours with the unfavorable diagnoses that it is ADHD. Stop using this as an excuse for inexcusable behavior. When a child comes into the world...he/she is innocent. How we, as parents teach them is referred to as learned behavior. This child was left to believe that being aggressive in this manner is ok and his mother's Instinct is to use technology as a babysitter instead of learning how to handle the behavior she created head-on...said this psychologist who graduated at the top of her class...ADHD, and all!!!

They should have been removed from the plane before they even left. I would have asked for another flight (if possible) plus lots of free flights in the future. Some say it a medical issue. Some say it's a parenting issue. Me personally?? I think it may be a little bit parenting (as this child already knows nothing will be done about his antics) and maybe he's never flown before. They should have taken him on a few short flights to get used to flying.

I'm sure it sucked for everyone on the plane, but the kid is 3. 3 year olds aren't known for being reasonable. His poor mother probably had it worse than anyone since she isn't easily able to discipline him on a plane and rather than pity, she gets condemnation from ignorant people. Time out? Tie him in a seat? Spanking is illegal is Germany. It's considered child abuse.

I have two children. One had meltdowns like this with some frequency; the other did not. It has nothing to do with my parenting skills. They were just different children. Fortunately, they never had major meltdowns while flying. When the one child had a particularly bad tantrum, I would pick him up and carry him screaming to a quieter place until he had a chance to calm down. This parent didn't have that option. As terrible as this was for all of the passengers, imagine how terrible it was for the mother who was trying to calm him while people were glaring. And then the video gets posted online where a bunch of strangers can feel better about their own parenting skills while judging hers. Well done Internet!

Agreed. People have no idea what the issues are, yet act superior and blame the mom. Three year olds don't readily have this level of energy for 8 hours straight! They usually take naps from time to time. I suspect this is much more than ADHD and medications don't cure everything. This mom must be exhausted. She probably cries herself to sleep at night with concerns for her child and feels isolated because with a severely affected child there are no baby sitters. Family members don't always understand and can heap on more criticism. Traditional parenting methods don't work for all children and can actually make things worse. Health services may be in short supply, as they are in most states here, and usually come at great cost. It's amazing no one on the whole plane took the time to understand and offer some help to this mom. She could have used a break!

ADHD isn't a disease. To me the child also sounded like he was non verbal, making him possibly autistic (which carries no physical features and normally isn't noticeable until you pay attention to the child play, communication and behavior). Only the child knows what was wrong, especially since he sounded non verbal. This means he'd be unable to verbalize if he was in pain or terrified. The extreme meltdown and length of it, really appears to point towards him being on the spectrum *which isn't a disease*. When a child on the spectrum is having a spell, there is little that can be done to stop it. I agree with people being upset, as I can't imagine listening to that for 8 hrs. But to describe the child as a demon, is horribly disgusting. Did it ever register to anyone that this type of behavior isn't that of a typical child, even a spoiled brat. I'm sure this wasn't his first meltdown and the only thing the mother is at fault for is not having a plan put into place. No one wants to drug their child, but acting in this manner for 8 hours only traumatizes the child and I'm going out in a limb driving up his blood pressure and heart rate (and yes the same for the passengers). In the end to call a 3 yr old names and blame the mother is ignorant. Do you think the mother wanted to listen to that anymore then anyone else did.

That was my first thought. Autism. But why would the mom take heer autistic child on an 8 hour flight without some sort of sedative?

Agreed. This child comes across as being autistic. He never used words really and used alot of vocalizations. A typical child woul eventually wear themselves out and stop. This child was terrified and just continued to wind himself up. When his terror stops the tantrum stops. Thats how it works for kids on the spectrum. I think the mom should have planned better and had been prepared for his melt down at an unfamiliar event. Have medications available to help the child cope with the strange environment. This child would have been just as tourmented as everyone else on the plane. My heart goes out to everyone on that plane.

This child may have been on the autism spectrum. May not have had anything to do with parenting. Plane rides can be tough.

That demon child belongs in a cage in the cargo hold. The airline staff should have never allowed this to happen and the plane shouldn’t have left the ground until the kid was either under control or off the plane. Completely unfair to the dozens of others on the flight - a slow form of torture 😩😩😩

This is absolutely ridiculous! I can't imagine having to listen to this holy terror for an entire flight! There have been other passengers kicked off flights for way LESS than this! She should have taken him to the bathroom and torn his behind up! At least he'd know why he was screaming! Apparently she's forgotten that SHE'S the adult and He's the kid! #epicparentingfail

oh my gosh! that kid is from hell . he needs a good smack ...and she needs parenting lessons . i am so glad i never had children . but then there is no way in hell they would have been allowed to scream and act like that!
