This is the shocking moment a raging bull used its horn to fling a pushchair through the air during a Spanish festival.

The animal smashed through safety barriers and gored a pram during the "running of the bulls" event.

Luckily the pushchair was empty when the bull attacked in the streets of Iriepal, in the central Spanish province of Guadalajara, Castilla La Mancha region.

The event was cancelled after the shocking near-miss which was captured on film.

Mobile phone footage shows how bull got into the spectator area during the event, which had been organised by the local council.

Adults and children can be seen frantically fleeing from the bull as it stomps through the streets.

Onlookers have climbed onto balconies, windowsills and walls to keep a safe distance from the animal.

The bull was eventually brought under control but not before one person suffered a broken arm while attempting to restrain it.

The authorities called the event off, claiming that appropriate safety measures had not been put in place.

Locals were disappointed with the cancellation and some even suggested used their own cars as safety barriers.

Small disturbances were reported after the cancellation with insults about the organisers being shouted in streets.

Local councillor Francisco Ubeda defended the organisation of the event claiming that appropriate safety checks had been made.

Bull runs are held in nearly 16,000 Spanish towns, where streets are cordoned-off to create a path for the animal.

Most years there are reports of deaths at these events which are popular with both locals and tourists.
