Guatemala’s Volcan de Fuego, or Volcano of Fire, started to erupt on February 1, the active volcano’s first eruption of 2018. The volcano spewed columns of smoke that reached nearly 22,966 feet, according to the National Institute for Seismology, Vulcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology of Guatemala. Volcanic ash fell onto nearby communities, such as Santa Sofia, Morelia and San Pedro. This timelapse video shows the eruption. Credit: Instagram/Nira_juntos via Storyful
