Will this massive bass eat a diver?

During an easy dive with a group of like-minded scuba divers on a local coral reef in the north-east of South Africa, a massive grouper or what we call "a potato bass" swam in from behind and went for the nearest diver. It is so big that could easily swallow him whole!

The reality is that it is a clever trick all about perspective. Potato bass is closer to the camera and divers and further away. Potato bass grow usually not bigger than 1,5 meters in length or so. They are also one of the friendliest and inquisitive fish in the ocean always eager to hang out with scuba divers!
