Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said on January 25 that more than 300 Kurdish fighters had been killed during Operation Olive Branch in northern Syria, according to a report by Turkey’s Anadolu agency, though Kurdish estimates were far fewer. Kurdish Hawar News Agency said on the same day Turkish shelling was continuing in Afrin and surrounding areas. It said one civilian had been killed. This footage is described as showing Syrian opposition factions arresting a YPG fighter at Barsaya mountain in north Afrin. The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said heavy fighting was reported between Kurdish forces and the Turkish-backed Free Syrian Army in the north and west of Afrin.
