An avalanche barreled down a mountainside in the ski resort of Saas-Fee, Switzerland, on the morning of Wednesday, January 24, producing a cloud of snow that spread through the streets of the town, temporarily reducing visibility. Authorities on Tuesday said a wide area in the Swiss Alps remained at high risk of avalanches. In nearby Zermatt, the threat of avalanches prompted officials to close railway lines and roads into the town for four days, meaning the resort was only accessible by helicopter. The train line between between Zermatt and Täsch reopened on Wednesday. Credit: Diego Imboden via Storyful
