A 12-mile-long ice jam on the Connecticut River threatened to cause flooding and ice-related damage in mid-January, and prompted officials in Haddam, Connecticut, to declare an “emergency condition” on January 17. This drone video, shot on January 16, shows the ice jam at Middletown and East Haddam in Connecticut. Jeremy Pollack, who shot the footage, said local residents had described the conditions as “unlike anything they’ve ever seen.” By January 16, the Coast Guard had already spent several days trying to clear the ice jams, according to NBC Connecticut. Efforts to break up the ice continued over “the following week”http://stryfl.com/4b3s. Credit: Jeremy Pollack via Storyful
