Lava spilled from the crater of Mayon volcano in the province of Albay, the Philippines, on Tuesday, January 23, as officials issued a Level 4 warning. This video taken at Ligñon Hill Nature Park, Legazpi city, shows the moment hot lava emerging from the crater. The Philippine Institute of Seismology and Volcanology reported on five episodes of “intense but sporadic” eruptions from Tuesday to early Wednesday. The volcano’s danger zone had also been extended to a five-mile radius. The volcano has shown increasing activity within the last 10 days.
