Australians were the travellers stranded at Tokyo’s Narita International Airport due to a snowstorm on January 23. Sydney-based Nick Lombardo, 20, and his family boarded a Japan Airlines plane bound for Sydney but were told to exit the plane around five hours later. According to Lombardo, the airliner promised to arrange accommodation and flights but all he got were sleeping bags, water and crackers from airport staff. These video and photos show people sleeping on airport floor in the early hours of January 23. Lombardo and his family had booked another flight themselves and aimed to fly out on January 24. More than 250 flights were cancelled as the Japanese capital was hit by the heaviest snow in four years, according to Kyodo News. Credit: Facebook/Nick Lombardo via Storyful
