A stranded deer was rescued from a frozen lake by the Sleepy Hollow Fire Department and animal ice rescue teams on January 16 in Pocantico Hills, Mount Pleasant, New York. Fire Chief John Korzelius was quoted in local media reports saying about 30 responders came to the rescue operation following a call from an employee of the reserve at 9.30 am. Korzelius said the rescue operation was one of the highlights of his 35 years in service. This video shows a member of the response team crawling onto the frozen lake with a rope tied around his waist. He grabs the deer and fellow firefighters pull them back to shore. The stunned deer lay on the ground before getting up and limping into the woods. Credit: Carlos Romero via Storyful
