Introducing two animals of different kingdoms can be quite the challenge, but if performed properly and carefully, it can be a very rewarding experience. This family had a very unique opportunity to introduce their dog to an emu!

Sue’s pet emu, Emee, was a lone hatch and has a purpose built pen at the end of the room for when her owner isn’t home. The rest of the time though, she is treated as one of the family! This video shows her and a very welcoming pet dog named Molly playing together.

Footage shows the playful emu engaging in play mode with the black labrador puppy, going in eternal chase around the living room. The friendly emu quickly befriended his canine pal and now they are inseparable, or so does the emu think!

Known as "the cousins of ostriches", emus are the second largest bird in the world, able to grow up to 6 feet in height. Native to mainland Australia, these birds are known as sprinters, as they are able to achieve speeds of 31 miles per hour! Emus were used as "stand-ins" for some of the two-legged dinosaurs in the film!

This baby emu is settled on harassing the family dog and continuously demands to play, chasing the dog around the house. Watching this unlikely pairing of friends interact is indeed very satisfying! This little bird just wants to have fun and goes chasing after the dog. One day, these two might become the closest of friends, kept together by an inseparable bond, but for now it seems like Molly tries to avoid her needy housemate Emee.
