A fearless explorer spent the night sleeping inside Ambrym volcano.

The footage, captured on November 8, 2017, shows Chris Horsley, from Ormskirk in Lancashire, descending to the interior of the volcano in order to camp around the crater.

Later on, he can be seen standing on the edge of the crater close to the glowing lava.

''What a magical place.''

''This is the greatest fireworks show on the planet,'' says Horsley, observing the spectacle of lava explosions from outside his tent.

Located in the archipelago of Vanuatu, Ambrym is one of the most active volcanoes in the world.

Chris Horsley writes: ''Sleeping inside this volcano was a truly epic experience.

''Using the radiant heat from the lava to cook our dinner worked perfectly.

''As pulses of lava flew higher than the area our tent was pitched, we watched and enjoyed one of the craziest shows on earth.''
