A rare snowfall dusted sand dunes in the Saharan town of Ain Sefra in northwest Algeria on January 7 – only the fourth time snow has fallen in the desert in 37 years, according to an Algerian media report. TSA Algeria said 40cm of snow fell, starting in the early hours of the morning, and that it began to melt after 5pm. These photos were captured by Karim Bouchetata, who also took photos of snow in the town in December 2016. Credit: Facebook/Karim Bouchetata via Storyful
