Freezing rain made for treacherous travel in and around Knoxville, Tennessee, on Monday, January 8. The icy conditions triggered numerous car crashes, road closures, and police asked people to stay off the roads, a news report said. A crash involved more than 40 vehicles near Chattanooga and closed the road, a news report said. A truck crash closed I-40 in Roane County.
