More than 24,000 homes across the UK were left without power on January 3, after the 100 mph winds of Storm Eleanor ripped across the country. The Met Office issued yellow weather warnings for heavy rain, hail, thunderstorms and flooding. Video here shows flooding on Guernsey, in the English Channel, where police reported fallen trees and the airport had to shut due to dangerous weather conditions. On January 2, the storm passed over Ireland, leaving more than 50,000 people in the western part of the country without power, according to the BBC. Met Eireann, Ireland’s national meteorological service, issued a Status Orange weather alert for exceptionally high seas, coastal damage and flooding. Credit: Twitter/Joe Ellis via Storyful
