Snow covered Buffalo the evening of Tuesday, January 2, as the city experienced its first winter blizzard of 2018. This timelapse footage shows the snowfall and low visibility conditions around Buffalo’s McKinley Monument. The heavy snow was responsible for a multi-vehicle crash that shut down a section of the New York State Thruway on Tuesday, killing one person. The National Weather Service issued a blizzard warning until 1 am Wednesday for the region amid bands of lake-effect snow. Wind gusts up to 45 miles per hour with no visibility were reported at Buffalo Niagara International Airport, the weather service said. Credit: Instagram/buffalony via Storyful
