A huntsman named Kitty got busy building an egg sac in a Queensland home after reportedly mating and eating her partner, according to a woman who captured the domestic duties in a December 30 video. YouTube entomologist Lisa Donovan said her holoconia immanis, more commonly referred to as a grey huntsman, mated with a wild male “which she promptly killed and ate after”. Kitty is seen in this timelapse laying her babies into the sac before spinning her protective webbing over the top. A huntsman can produce around 200 baby spiders at once. According to the Queensland Museum, “some people claim these spiders scream”. Credit: Lisa Donovan via Storyful
