Two pyrotechnicians were injured and thousands of people were evacuated from Terrigal Beach in New South Wales after a New Year’s Eve fireworks display went awry. Concerned parents posted that their children were traumatized after a barge of fireworks exploded, and went on fire, shortly after 9 pm. Leonie Douglas was filming the display at the moment the barge exploded and the crowd began to panic. She said her children were unharmed but upset by the incident. “Two men on the barge suffered minor injuries and were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital, according to a police spokesman.
