At least 17 people were killed and others were injured on December 31 when a suspected suicide bomb attack targeted a funeral in Afghanistan’s Jalalabad. The blast happened at the funeral of a former district governor, 1TV news said. President Ashraf Ghani reportedly denounced the attack on a religious service saying “terrorists have no respect for Islam.” The Taliban reportedly denied responsibility.
