Egyptian security forces shot dead an unidentified gunman after a deadly attack on a church south of Cairo on December 29, officials told the state news agency MENA. At least ten people were killed in the attack outside the Mari Mina Coptic Orthodox Church in the Helwan district, AFP reported. Local reports said two assailants opened fire on the church, with one shot dead in an exchange of fire with forces and the other fleeing the scene.
